Another quick comic page. This one took a bit longer to get right than the last one but it is far more complex. Working with facial expressions and white on black, etc. Still pretty quick to do though, and still very enjoyable process.
.
I'm not a comic artist by trade and only know some basic stuff but here's my thinking and process.
.
For these I start with a loose theme idea (guy being interrogated, coin flip decides what happens next) then I sketch it out very quickly thinking about page read or the flow of it (composition).
.
I wanted the coin toss to lead the eye up and down like it would be in reality so I start at the bottom and use tall vertical panels to show height.
.
The middle panel completely splits the page and is a strong image itself, so I felt it didn't need a "clap!" comic sound effect (in sketch). I'm hoping your mind fills that in?
.
The bottom section took a bit to decide on and you'll see in the sketch I changed it a bit. The reflection in the glasses idea would have been too small for that little box. I like where it ended up. It's a bit more gritty I think.
.
Anyway, Fun practice. Hope you like it and it reads ok. If you got confused by it or something is not working for you let me know.
