The Dark Crystal. Possibly my most watched film throughout my life. A film from what I consider the golden age of Fantasy, as well as the golden age of Practical Effects. It's a "truly" magic film that doesn't try to explain magic scientifically. What Henson and Froud created is a masterpiece and probably the most beautiful, dark and horrific (at times) fantasy universe and yet it's a film for the whole family.
As I was drawing this I remembered how much I used to copy Frouds work when I was growing up as an artist. It's been years since I did anything like this. I really enjoyed it and I may do a more elaborate and larger version soon. This shows Skekung the Garthim Master and his counterpart Urim the Healer.
I'm loving the images of The Age of Resistance we've seen for the Netflix series. They are gorgeous and true to the art style. I have very high hopes for it.
