"Extorting Tribute from the Citizens" (Howard Pyle study)

This quick study sketch is based on an image in a book ("Pirates" by David Mitchell) I've had since I was a child. The painting is by American Master Howard Pyle, "Extorting Tribute from the Citizens" (1905). I've always loved this image because its packed full of story. Its like I can almost see an entire film/book in this image alone.
